Summary
This project saw the refurbishment and remodelling of laboratories within the University of Surrey’s campus. The scope of works included all new ventilation, electrical supply, as well as new secure radiation stores. The works had to be completed whilst the enabling works were completed to relocate staff. All items being removed had to be checked for radiation.
The enabling works saw the formation of a new dark room area, rejigging labs 41-43, with radiation lab equipment being moved.
Radiation Labs - remodelling to form two open teaching spaces / labs, collaboration area, new storerooms, new sealed secure store and unsealed secure stores. Also, the formation of new arrivals zone, or student welcome area. The works include new comfort cooling, new roof plant, new AHU’s, new electrical supply, new distribution boards, access control, fire alarms and intruder alarms.
The beautiful new internal glazed oak doors and windows spray light into the corridors allowing the once dark spaces to be a place that staff and students want to pass through.
